Washington’s economy is in a crisis. More than 1.4 million people in Washington have filed for unemployment insurance since March as thousands of businesses have shuttered, some forever.
$2.5 billion - that’s the bare minimum our lawmakers must invest this legislative session as a down payment towards our economic recovery. These investments will put more money in peoples’ pockets, provide direct support for small business owners, and grow our economy.
But to do this, it will take Washington lawmakers finally mustering the political will to raise taxes on a small handful of the richest people and corporations who have been virtually unaffected by this crisis.
